Local export: CSV and JSON files are assembled in this browser from the current session. The tool does not upload an export file or save a batch history.
How to generate a test address by ZIP code
This tool searches the selected state's NorthMock address pool for an exact five-digit ZIP. It opens with Ohio ZIP 43215, which currently has 345 matching records. Change the state first when testing another ZIP allocation.
- Select a US state. The tool keeps the state and ZIP filters together on this page instead of sending you to a different state URL.
- Enter five digits. Leading zeroes are preserved, so a Connecticut ZIP such as
06103remains a string rather than becoming6103. - Choose a batch size. Generate 1, 5, 10, or 25 records; duplicate address selections are removed from the current browser session.
- Copy or export. Use separate address fields directly, copy the full batch, or download CSV and JSON files assembled locally in the browser.
The current US pool contains 102,125 deduplicated records across every state and Washington, DC. Availability varies by ZIP and describes this test-data pool only, not national postal coverage.
US address format for ZIP-code test forms
Keep the ZIP code in its own text field. A normal US fixture separates the delivery address line from the city, two-letter state code, and five-digit ZIP value.

Exact-filter rules
- State
- Select the state before generating so the API reads only that regional pool.
- ZIP code
- Send exactly five digits and preserve leading zeroes as text.
- ZIP+4
- The filter accepts the five-digit base ZIP; it does not accept a nine-digit ZIP+4 input.
- Availability
- A valid format can still have no matching record in the current NorthMock pool.
USPS Publication 28 describes the delivery and last-line address structure. NorthMock applies a five-digit test filter; it is not USPS address certification, ZIP+4 matching, or proof of deliverability.
ZIP-code address generator QA matrix
Use these cases to verify validation, state alignment, leading-zero handling, error messages, and export behavior.
| Case | Input | Expected tool behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Represented exact ZIP | OH + 43215 | Return only records whose parsed base ZIP is 43215. |
| Leading-zero ZIP | CT + 06103 | Preserve all five characters in the result, CSV, and JSON. |
| Malformed ZIP | 4321 | Stop before the API request and show a five-digit validation message. |
| State mismatch or unavailable ZIP | Five digits with no record in the selected state pool | Return a clear unavailable-fixture error instead of silently switching states. |
| ZIP+4 input | 43215-1234 | Reject the input because this tool's filter accepts an exact five-digit base ZIP. |
| Blank ZIP | State selected, ZIP empty | Generate from the selected state without an exact ZIP constraint. |
Exact ZIP filter in the NorthMock API
Request one record with GET /api/generate?state=OH&zip=43215. The state parameter is required with zip, and the JSON response reports the applied value in data.filters.zipCode.
The public endpoint returns one record per request. The browser batch workflow makes repeated requests, removes duplicate address selections, and then creates the CSV or JSON download locally. See the bulk address generator guide for the export schema.
ZIP coverage, sources, and limitations
- Suggestions are the most represented exact ZIP values in each current state pool; they are not a complete US ZIP directory.
- The build checks source records against the current public USPS AISU ZIP list and state-level allocation rules, but the live filter only proves that a matching fixture exists in NorthMock.
- An address record may describe a real location. The name, email, and safe phone are generated independently and must not be treated as the resident or owner of that address.
- Do not use results for physical mail, residency claims, identity verification, impersonation, or bypassing access controls.
Review USPS Publication 28, the USPS AISU current ZIP list, and the NorthMock methodology and source boundaries.
Address-by-ZIP questions
Can this tool generate an address for every US ZIP code?
No. It returns exact matches only from the current NorthMock pool. A correctly formatted ZIP may have no available fixture.
Why must I choose a state as well as a ZIP?
NorthMock stores and validates address pools by region. Requiring the state prevents a failed lookup from silently returning an address in a different region.
Are leading-zero ZIP codes supported?
Yes. ZIP values are sent and exported as strings, so values such as Connecticut ZIP 06103 retain the leading zero.
Should I use this page or a state generator?
Use this page when you need to switch among states while filtering exact ZIP values. Use a dedicated state page, such as the Ohio address generator, for state-specific coverage facts and testing guidance.
Designed for legitimate testing
- The complete copy-ready phone number uses a local area code and the reserved 555-0100 through 555-0199 fictional range.
- The real-prefix preview comes from current NANPA or CNA assignment data; its final four digits stay masked because they may belong to a real subscriber.
- Email addresses use gravityengine.cc and link to the matching disposable inbox.
- Fictional names are independently assembled from 400 aggregate SSA popular first names and 1,000 US Census surnames, providing 400,000 gender-tagged combinations without copying complete identities.
- Supplemental address data includes © OpenStreetMap contributors, data made available through OpenAddresses, information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Yukon, and public sector datasets under the City of Yellowknife Open Data License v1.
- Generated records are intended for development, demos, and sandbox validation only.
- Do not use generated data to impersonate people, receive physical mail, or bypass identity checks.
